چکیده
The manuscript shows results of a source apportionment study of NMVOCs measured by PTR-TOF-MS in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal during winter 2013. Positive matrix factorization analysis was conducted to identify possible emission sources for 37 m/z measured by PTR-MS. The sources were identified from the chemical fingerprint of each PMF factor and their diurnal profiles. Conditional probability functions plots were used to determine the directions of the sources and attribute the chemical emissions to specific spatial areas in the region and specific activities. The sources found by

Source apportionment of NMVOCs in the Kathmandu Valley during the SusKat-ABC international field campaign using positive matrix factorization
A positive matrix factorization model (US EPA PMF version 5.0) was applied for the source apportionment of the dataset of 37 NMVOCs measured over a period of 19 December 2012 – 30 January 2013 during the SusKat-ABC international air pollution measurement campaign using a Proton Transfer Reaction Time of Flight Mass Spectrometer in the Kathmandu Valley. In all, eight source categories were ident...

As we replied above, the aerosol mass absorption efficiency (Qa) is also estimated from PM10 measurements (see Line 5-6, Page 7 of Section. 3.3). We also will clarify this in the revised manuscript. Many previous studies also showed Qa for BC from lab-generated aerosols, ambient aerosols, diesel engines and theoretical calculations (e.g., Mie scattering theory). Bond and Bergstrom (2006) review...
متن کاملEcological Risk Assessment and Source identification of PAHs by PMF model in petroleum contaminated soils; West of Kermanshah province
We collected soil samples at 23 sites from the petroleum contaminated soils (PC) in the west of Kermanshah province to investigate the sources and ecological risk of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). In this study, source apportionment has been carried out using Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF).The total PAHs concentration, have a mean value of 92.79 mg/kg, ranging from 7.37 to 609.67...

The authors conducted VOC measurements using PTR-TOF in Kathmandu, Nepal. PMF was used to separate various source contributions to ambient VOC as a function of time. The authors then used a PMF “nudging” tool and some a priori knowledge of source profiles to move the PMF solution into a more physically realistic space. The various PMF factors are identified by comparing their VOC composition wi...
